Our History
The Normandy hotel has a rich history in the Paisley and Renfrewshire area. Originally opened as the Stakis Glasgow Airport Hotel, we were home to hundreds of events over the decades and were host to thousands upon thousands of guests.
At the beginning of 1998, our current owners purchased the hotel, and we continue to not only host guests for both leisure and business, but also a huge variety of events from weddings, to Tribute Nights, and corporate functions.
The area surrounding our hotel is steeped in history. There are countless period buildings and sites to visit nearby, and we even have a pair of protected historically significant stones situated in our gardens!
One stone is a pediment called the Argyll stone, and it is said that the Earl of Argyle once rested at the rock in 1685. The other stone was the base of a cross called St. Convals Chariot. The water that gathers in the small hollow of the rock is said to have healing properties.
Both stones are enclosed behind steel railings on a small woodland path within the hotel grounds, and we encourage our guests to take a look!
